Citrine FAQs

The primary difference between natural citrine and heat-treated citrine lies in their origin and authenticity:

Natural Citrine:

  • Origin: Natural citrine forms in the Earth's crust when quartz crystals containing trace amounts of iron undergo a geological process that imparts a warm, golden-yellow color.
  • Authenticity: Natural citrine is genuinely colored by nature, and its hues can range from pale yellow to deep amber. It is highly valued for its authentic coloration and metaphysical properties.

Heat-Treated Citrine:

  • Origin: Heat-treated citrine is often created by heating amethyst or smoky quartz crystals at high temperatures. This artificial process transforms the crystal's color from purple (amethyst) or smoky brown (smoky quartz) to yellow or orange.
  • Authenticity: Heat-treated citrine, while visually similar to natural citrine, is artificially modified. It does not possess the same metaphysical properties as natural citrine and may lack the same energetic qualities.

All of the citrine pieces we sell are natural and are ethically-sourced from the Minas Gerais mines in Brazil.

Citrine is a variety of quartz with a yellow to golden-yellow color. It differs from other gemstones due to its distinct coloration, which is caused by trace amounts of iron in the crystal structure.

Citrine is believed to attract wealth, promote positivity, cleanse energy, enhance mental clarity, and balance emotions.

Citrine is often associated with the Solar Plexus chakra, which is linked to personal power, confidence, and self-esteem.

  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Citrine is a durable gemstone, but it can be sensitive to harsh chemicals. Avoid exposing your citrine to chemicals such as bleach, acids, or strong cleaning agents, as they can damage the stone and its shine.

  • Gentle Cleaning: To clean your citrine, use a soft, lint-free cloth or a jewelry polishing cloth. Gently wipe the surface of the citrine to remove dust, dirt, or fingerprints. This simple cleaning method helps maintain its natural luster.

  • No Direct Sunlight: Citrine's vibrant color can fade when exposed to prolonged direct sunlight. Store your citrine jewelry or crystals away from direct sunlight or heat sources to preserve its color and energy.

  • Regular Connection: Incorporate your citrine into your daily routine. Whether you wear it as jewelry or meditate with it, regular interaction with your citrine helps maintain its energy and strengthens your connection with its metaphysical properties.
